The log chalet
This chalet or cottage is Gilles' private home. It's there that the cook in chief is preparating the meals before to dispatch them to the Yurt where all the human pack met itself for the so much waited dinner.
The Kota
La Kota
This Lappish traditional home can host four individuals. An only room has all confort with keeping all its country-style charm. (Wood-burning stove, reindeer-skinned beds). Being situated not very far away from the lake, it offers a view everywhere over the camp.
The Yurt
La yourte
This is another traditional habitation but from the Mongolian steppe. Following the example of the "Kota", it's about a unique central room heated by a central wood-burning stove. Well isolated by two layers of felt, it allows us to get together in large numbers around low tables for a friendly cooking time.
The "Varasto"
… Or re-log ... is our Ali Baba's cave. It houses the tool, exploration material and treats covered by the doggies.
The prospector-type tents
During the raids, we use a tent coming from the finnish army, equipped with a wood-burning stove. Between five and six people can sleep there. A larger tent of its type is mounted for good inside our camp. We use it as equipment depot.
But sometimes we need it also in order to welcome our visitors to spend evenings by wood-burning stove.
The Sauna
Each week we organize a firewood sauna according the purest finnish tradition. Getting out this steam room with inside a temperature of + 90 degrees in order to take a frozen bath outside on the snow needs a bit of courage. Certainly for an invigorating relaxation time !
Ecological toilets
Neither flush nor pit in the ground, as this is customary in Finland, the feces are processed into compost then recycled to help the environment. This cottage offers ease, if the door is open, an unobstructed view of the pack watching your perform your hygienic ritual as healthy as the world.

Site of the camp
The Arktika Camp is situated in Finnish Lapland, at 300 Kilometres (at 186.5 Miles) from the Polar circle and from the town of Rovaniemi on the road towards the North cap (being apart of 200 Kilometres or of 124 Miles towards North).
From the East, the Russian town Murmansk is situated at only 300 Kilometres (or at only 186.5 Miles) the next township or village from the camp is situated at 4 kilometres (or at 2.5 Miles). It owns all conveniences of which an airport with domestic flights to Helsinki-Vantaa, Paris (*), or with London (*).

- Flights Paris-Helsinki-Ivalo
- Flights Paris-Roissy - Helsinki-Vantaa then by coaches Rovaniemi-Ivalo (time: 4 hours).
- Flights Paris-Helsinki then by train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi (couchettes by night trains are possible) then by coaches from Rovaniemi to Ivalo.
- By road via Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
- By Ferry-boat from Germany ; with departure from Travemünde to Helsinki (time : 27.30 hours) and/or a departure from Rostock (time : 41 hours).
- From Russia ; by coaches from Mourmansk to Ivalo (twice a week) or by train from Moscow - Paris.
